Based in the Englewood, Colorado area, we currently offer training and competition opportunities for eight Special Olympic sports throughout the year.
Our Focus
is to help our athletes build the skills that they need to compete in their sport(s); do so in a safe environment; foster friendships and teamwork; and have FUN!
Was founded on the belief that people with intellectual disabilities can, with proper instruction and encouragement, learn, enjoy and benefit from participation in individual and team sports.
Through the power of sports, people with intellectual disabilities discover new strengths and abilities, skills and success. Special Olympics athletes find joy, confidence and fulfillment — on the playing field and in life. They also inspire people in their communities and elsewhere to open their hearts to a wider world of human talents and potential.
Special Olympics training and competition schedule is broken down into four seasons. Athletes are welcome to compete in multiple sports throughout the year, and if the schedule permits, athletes may compete in multiple sports within a season.
The Southsiders Special Olympics Program offers training in 7 of the 20 sports offered by Special Olympics Colorado. All of our competitions and training are available to athletes free of charge.
